About Lovebirds

Lovebirds are small parrots bursting with personality, known for their strong bonds and vibrant plumage. Despite their size, they’re full of energy and character, making them popular among parrot lovers.

What to Consider When Purchasing Lovebirds

Lovebirds do well either alone with lots of human interaction (and we mean lots!) or in pairs for companionship. However, once bonded with a mate, they may prefer each other’s company over yours, so think carefully about your goals when choosing one or two.

They need a spacious cage, toys to chew, and plenty of mental stimulation. These birds can become nippy if not handled regularly, so taming and socialisation are important. Their natural curiosity and chewing instinct mean their setup should be safe and regularly rotated.

Lovebirds live for 10–15 years and require consistent care and attention.

At Town Gardens & City Pets, we don’t often keep lovebirds in the store but we can order them in specially for you. Whether you’re looking for a solo companion or a pair, we’ll guide you to the best setup.
